Elk Hunting Ranch

Colorado is blessed with many large and beautiful National Forests that allow public hunting. Hunting pressure on the National Forests surrounding Bear Mountain Ranch pushes more game to our private hunting ranch, resulting in even larger elk herds during the Colorado hunting seasons. Bear Mountain Ranch’s elk hunting begins with the Colorado elk archery season in September. We offer four 4-day/5-night guided bow elk hunts. Our rifle elk hunting seasons are 5-day/6-nights during each of the Colorado rifle seasons.

Our expert hunting guides carefully manage our elk hunts, which are limited to six hunters per season. All hunts are guided, two hunters to one guide (one-on-one is available for an additional charge). Our excellent chef prepares three meals a day; snacks and beverages are also included. Grizzly Cabin provides the uniquely rustic gathering place for meals and camaraderie. Separate cabins provide warm comfortable sleeping quarters. Late rifle season hunters have the option of staying at our Arapahoe Lodge.

Licenses are required for all free-range hunts. Please refer to Colorado Parks and Wildlife for all big game hunting requirements.

However, a few important items include:

  • Bear Mountain Ranch is located in Colorado game management units 17 and 181.
  • All persons born on or after January 1, 1949, must have a hunter’s safety card.
  • 500 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange (essentially a vest and hat) are required when hunting with a firearm.
